I was born in Southfield, Michigan and grew up in Farmington Hills. I have been a member of the varsity staff since 2000 and I am heading into my 11th varsity season in 2010. I played football at Brother Rice as a QB, WR, and DB/FS  and graduated from Rice in 1996. I love the school, the community, and especially the football program…there is nothing like high school football! I played college ball at a D1AA program called Northeastern University in Boston, MA where I started in 44 consecutive games and was a team co-captain in 1999. I was an active member and President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and in my senior year I was 1 of 200 student athletes in the nation selected to the NCAA Leadership Conference which takes place annually in Orlando, Florida. Professionally, I have been employed at Brother Rice in the alumni office and as the admissions director since 2000. I am married to my “grade school” sweet heart, Heather and we celebrated our 10 year anniversary last summer! We have two children, our son, Peyton and daughter, Sadie. I wish the parents, players, and alumni the best in our quest to inspire one another this season…State Forte!

I am very excited about returning to Brother Rice.  Being fortunate enough to have coached on the varsity staff in 2002, and having worked with much of the staff as a coach or as part of the Al Fracassa's Quarterback Camp, I have developed some good relationships with people involved with the football program.  Furthermore, I have always been impressed by the character exemplified by the Brother Rice student-athletes and that is such a big reason as to why I am so enthusiastic about being back.

Prior to returning to Rice, I spent time at Detroit Renaissance and most recently at Bloomfield Hills Andover.  Before my original coaching experience at Brother Rice, I also coached on the east side at New Baltimore Anchor Bay and with another Catholic League member, De La Salle.

I am originally an "eastsider", having graduated from Grosse Pointe North high School ('92) before attending Western Michigan University where I was lucky enough to have played football and then served as a Grad Assistant on the Western staff.  It was during this time that I met my future wife, Megan.  We have been blessed with 3 boys - Jozef(7), Nikalai (4), and Seth (3).  We currently reside in Clawson.  If you happen to get a chance, don't be a stranger, come on over and introduce yourself to me because I would like to know the Rice family as much as possible.

President of Brother Rice High School

I am a 1976 graduate of Brother Rice High School.  My athletic participation as a student was limited to intramurals as the level of talent amongst my classmates was outstanding.  In 1974, Brother Rice won its first two state championships in basketball and football – I was proud to be a supporter of these outstanding teams.  I joined the Christian Brothers after graduation and earned a degree in History from Lewis University in Chicago in 1979.  For two years, I taught and coached at Brother Rice Chicago as a Christian Brother.  I have tremendously fond memories of my first years teaching and despite my athletic inexperience, I discovered the value of  coaching both football and baseball.   After choosing to leave the Brothers in 1981, I returned to Michigan and began teaching and coaching at my alma mater in the fall of 1982.  Over the past 28 years, I have served the school in many different capacities and as President, I am once again proud to be a spectator and supporter of our athletic program.

I am in my sophomore season in coaching at Brother Rice. I came over from the Farmington

Rockets program where I was the Director of football and a head coach. I was born and raised in

Hawaii and moved to Michigan during my junior year of high school. My wife Christine and I have

four boys. Football is our family passion as many who know us will confirm. Not sure how many

other football coaches wives will help by filming the game and then spend the next 6 hours helping

you break down film by charting plays by down and distance and play calling tendencies. I

appreciate the opportunity to be able to help your son grow as a young man and a football player.

 Go Warriors!!!

It all started on Jan. 16th 1976 when I was born!!! I went to Warren Cousino High School where I

was a three sport varsity athlete (football, basketball, and track). I was All State and All County in

track.  I threw the shot put and discus. From there I went to University of Detroit Mercy to study

engineering on a track scholarship. I spent two years there and changed my career choice from

engineering to teaching.  I have attained several associate degrees in the study of engineering

technology.  I'm still in the process of receiving my teaching certificate at Wayne State.  I've taught

engineering and coached (football, track, and wrestling) at Rice now for 11 years.  I was recently

married in October 2009 and can't wait to start a family of my own!  Go Warriors!!!
